Features of processing feed yeast

Fodder yeast is obtained as a result of processing plant and non-plant substrates.

As a rule, this requires the use of waste pulp, paper, starch-treacle production and petroleum fractions. This biomass is subsequently used as feed for animals, as well as fur-bearing animals, birds and fish. They can be fed both dry and added directly to compound feeds and feed rations. Thanks to its natural composition, this product helps animals gain the necessary mass faster, and at the same time does not have a negative effect on health. 100 units of such a substance contain up to 8.5 kg of protein, 60 kg of carbohydrates and 5 kg of fat. Due to the fact that yeast tends to grow, when added to feed, the amount of nutrients increases significantly – sometimes up to 2500 kg, giving 1250 kg of protein concentrate.

By the way, there are three types of this product at once: hydrolytic, classic feed and protein-vitamin concentrate. These yeast varieties are obtained thanks to the different production methods and different bases used to obtain the substance. The processing of this product is carried out in the EU countries, and therefore it is more profitable for local Ukrainian farmers to sell this product to other countries.

Processing of fodder yeast is carried out depending on the raw material base of such a product.

• Hydrolyzed yeast is obtained directly from hydrolysates of wood and agricultural residues. The process itself takes place at high temperatures in combination with acids. This causes the fiber in the waste to be absorbed into the carbohydrates.
• In the process of cultivation of fungi from yeast on alcohol stillage, you can get classic feed yeast.
• When using wastes of petroleum paraffins, methanol, ethanol and natural gas, a protein-vitamin concentrate is obtained, which can also be used as animal feed.

The processing method depends on the original raw materials, as well as the capacity of the manufacturer. Due to the fact that few factories in Ukraine are engaged in such processes, it is more profitable for farmers to give waste for processing to EU countries, which buy feed yeast in bulk. For deliveries, it is necessary to collect documents confirming the quality of these raw materials and allowing the export of yeast to Europe. Also, manufacturers should be aware of the need to pay various taxes when trading with European countries.

Fodder yeast is processed by factories in Germany, Spain, Austria and the Baltic countries. To trade with them, Ukrainian producers must have quality certificates for products, as well as all the necessary documents for yeast. It is better to prepare them through intermediaries who will help bring the products to European standardized requirements.
